JOB OPPORTUNITY: Production Manager

Great Canadian Theatre Company invites applications for the position of
Interim Production Manager for the term of March 15, 2003 to June 30,
2003. 

GCTC is a professional theatre company in Ottawa that offers an
eight-play subscription season from September to June, a music series
and rentals. GCTC plays a vital role as a catalyst and an agent
promoting theatre and cultural activities in the Ottawa-Carleton region.
Its mandate is to present Canadian plays, including new plays "to
foster, produce and promote excellent theatre that provokes examination
of Canadian life and our place in the world."

The Production Manager works in close partnership with the Artistic
Director and Managing Director in leading the artistic vision of the
company.

The successful candidate will have 2 years experience in a similar
theatre and have extensive knowledge of all aspects of production in
order to
oversee the producing of eight full length plays.

The candidate will have experience in developing and managing the season
and play budgets, which includes costing of shows.

The candidate will have experience with managing and scheduling staff,
the ability to interpret and understand technical drawings, be up to
date on
current theatre technology, have knowledge of health and safety
standards and the CTA and ADC regulations, have a basic understanding of
stage
lighting and sound systems, as well as building, electric and mechanical
systems.

The candidate will possess strong leadership and organizational skills
and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
