Alberta Theatre Projects, Calgary's Contemporary Theatre, is seeking a
male actor, character age range 45+, fluently bilingual in French and
English, to play the role of Mathieu Lapointe in their production of
Plan B by Michael Healey. First rehearsal: August 19. Opening: September
12. Closing: September 27, at ATP in Calgary AB.

The part:
He's the premier ministre of the new Republic of Quebec. The character
is francophone. He's also a totally able accented English speaker in
this verbal comedy. The play is surtitled, and a chunk of his dialogue
is in French.
Brainy and charismatic: He's a driven, ideological leader - intelligent
and sophisticated, naturally reserved, though he's trained himself to
appear approachable because a leader needs to be.
High Status: He's described as 'always seeming to know exactly what he's
doing' but underneath he's a generous, curious spirit, a passionate,
ethical man, and someone with a lot of self-knowledge. A complex and
meaty role. He's the antagonist/foil to Michael Fraser, the central
character. The play is a witty, complex, bilingual comedy of politics,
sex and pantlessness.

Please send your resume/headshot and a cover letter expressing your
