STARS COME OUT FOR PAL
=======================

A myriad of outstanding Canadian performing artists will appear in Ode To Joy, a spectacular one-time event on Sunday, October 12 at 8:00pm at The
Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts, 777 Homer Street, Vancouver.

Highlights of this extraordinary evening will include Canada's prima ballerina Evelyn Hart who will perform DecorumE, a Vancouver première, with
partner Christopher Body, and a solo piece from Swan Lake. Talented young Vancouver actor Alessandro Juliani will be joined by the PAL Chorus in a
special musical number; the celebrated mezzo-soprano, Judith Forst, accompanied by the Chor Leoni Men's Choir, will sing Habanera from Carmen; eminent pianist Jane Coop and violinist Andrew Dawes will perform Debussy's Sonata. Renowned actor Jay Brazeau will perform a piece from the new Mel Brooks musical, The Producers; award-winning young violinist Jonathan Chan will offer Gypsy Airs; and pianist Margit Juhász will play Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No.6. Distinguished actor Christopher Gaze and comic Doug Cameron will contribute some unusual surprises to the entertainment. The PAL Chorus, formed especially for this event, the Studio 58 Choir, and members of the Western Gold Theatre Company will round out the program.

Hosting the evening will be the inimitable Bill Richardson, gifted singer Jane Mortifee and multi-talented actor Denis Simpson. Nicholas Campbell will make a special guest appearance.

Ode To Joy will pay tribute to Joy Coghill, C.M, super woman of Canadian theatre and the driving force and co-founder of PALVancouver, an affordable
housing project for seniors in the arts and allied professions. Proceeds from Ode To Joy will help to build this important new facility. All performing artists, technical crew, co-producers Chris Tyrell and Terry Kelly, and the organizing committee have donated their time and talent to the benefit. Canadian Actors' Equity Association and the Vancouver Musicians Association have lent their support.
