The Basics of Fall Protection for the Entertainment Industry

When: Saturday, October 25, 2003 - 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Toronto

Cost: Free of Charge - Funding to cover tuition fees and materials is
made possible through the Ontario Trillium Foundation and Theatre
Ontario's "To Act in Safety" program.
 
Who should attend: Theatre technicians, educators, facility managers,
supervisors and other production personnel who may be required to work
from ladders, scaffolds, grids and platforms. Participants from the
professional, education and community theatre sectors are welcome.
 
Outcomes: Participants will learn about fall protection legislation and
procedures.  Participants who successfully complete a short test at the
end of the session will receive their "proof of training" certificate
which meet the Construction Safety Association standards.
 
This 1-day intensive course will include:
Classroom time in the morning covering
* Legal responsibilities of employers, supervisors, and workers
* Fines and penalties
* Fall protection training overview
* Hazards and controls
* Fall prevention
* Fall arrest
 
After lunch (not included in course), participants will receive
* Personal fit-up in a CSA-approved full body harness
* Group demonstration of a fall-arrest rescue
 
Registration:  
Advance registration by phone, fax or e-mail is required. Participation
is limited to 40 people, on a first-come, first-served basis.  Those
that pre-register and do not show up will be billed $50.
