DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Shakespeare in the Rough
--------------------------

Shakespeare in the Rough, now in its 11th season in Toronto, is seeking
a Development Officer to begin working in early December 2003 and
continue on a part-time basis, with a guaranteed base contract or
salary.

The successful candidate will possess a professional, outgoing and
personable disposition, excellent communication skills, and a passion
for the theatre.  Previous fundraising experience, budgeting, time
management skills, and the ability to work independently are assets.
Shakespeare in the Rough encourages applications from both individuals
and client-based service organizations.

As a company dedicated to professional, exciting, accessible theatre,
Shakespeare in the Rough produces an annual summer production in
Toronto's Withrow Park.  The company is also beginning to embark on a
series of projects dedicated to developing new works for the stage.
Professional development workshops for actors are also a core commitment
for the company.  Job duties will include, but are not limited to:

* Reporting directly to the team of Artistic Directors and having
ongoing liaisons with the Board of Directors, and any fundraising or
special events committee(s). 

* Identifying fundraising needs, designing, developing, organizing and
executing short and long-term fundraising strategies for the theatre
with clear financial goals. 

* Actively seeking out new fundraising opportunities that will enhance
the theatre's image and visibility.

* In coordination with the Artistic Team, developing a targeted
sponsorship package; identifying and culling a sponsorship portfolio
that includes Corporate, Foundation, Government, Events and Advertising
solicitation.  

* Research, develop and maintain strong partnerships with sponsors,
donors and government agencies.

* Developing, and maintaining a strong financial support base from these
sponsors.

* Assist the organization with Board development and recruitment.

* Foster and develop the company's private donations
