HAIRSPRAY - A New Musical
Open Casting Call - Vancouver
 
An Open Singer casting call for the Toronto production of Hairspray will
be held in Vancouver on Saturday, October 4, 2003. Please watch future
e-drive postings for updates on audition location and times......
 
We are currently seeking male and female singers (can be any ethnicity
and any type) with strong pop singing voices, movement ability, and
great personalities, ages 18 - 50's.
 
ESPECIALLY SEEKING 
 
TRACY TURNBLAD: Female, Caucasian, 5'3" or shorter, to play high school
age. Must be heavyset. Fun, good-hearted, outgoing with a vibrant,
lovable personality. Becomes a teen hero. Strong pop singer and mover. 
 
MOTORMOUTH MAYBELLE: Female, African-Canadian, 40's-50's. Seaweed and
Little Inez's mother. Queen of Baltimore Soul who sings on the local TV
dance show. Powerful and inspiring, with an infectious personality.
Large physique. Strong, soulful, gospel/pop singer. 
 
SEAWEED J. STUBBS: Male, African-Canadian, to play high school age.
Cool, sexy, good-hearted. Son of Motormouth Maybelle who becomes Penny's
boyfriend. Strong, soulful pop singer. 
 
Please prepare one brief 1960's - style pop song showing range. Bring
sheet music and a photo/resume stapled together. An accompanist will be
provided.
 
We are strongly encouraging performers of all ethnicities and racial
backgrounds to attend this call.
