Talk Is Free Theatre Proudly Presents

"Auditioning for Musical Theatre"

Location in Barrie to be confirmed

Okay, so you can dance, sing and act - but how do you get a job?

Auditioning can be a frightening experience unless you know what to
expect. In our newest course, AUDITIONING
FOR MUSICAL THEATRE, one of Canada's most accomplished
Director/Choreographers, Anne Wootten, and Musical
Director Greg Gibson, will help you present your personal best. Do you
know what to do when you're told
to prepare an up-tempo and a ballad, plus a monologue, and be prepared
to dance? Would you prepare the same
songs to audition for HAIRSPRAY as you would for GUYS AND DOLLS? And
what do you wear? This workshop will help you to choose and prepare a
monologue and appropriate songs, choose the right wardrobe, improve your
confidence in a dance auditions and polish your presentation to the
panel. As an added bonus, you'll learn how to build your resume and
choose the proper photograph.

Anne Wootten's career has included directing and choreographing for
theatre, television, and film. She spent eight seasons as Consulting
Director/Choreographer at the Stratford Festival. Productions included
GYPSY, THE MIKADO, HMS PINAFORE, GUYS AND DOLLS and CAROUSEL. She has
choreographed the dance scenes for Bette Midler and Dennis Farino in the
Carl Reiner film THAT OLD FEELING; for Jason Robards in the Emmy-winning
Disney television movie MARK TWAIN AND ME; and for Matthew Broderick and
Penelope-Ann Miller in THE FRESHMAN, which also starred Marlon Brando.
Ms. Wootten is Artistic Director and Co-Producer of REPRISE CONCERTS.
For Talk Is Free Theatre, she has recently directed and choreographed
BROADWAY MAYBES.

Greg Gibson most recently music-directed TREASURE ISLAND with Theatre by
the Bay's Young Company and the South Simcoe Theatre productions of
GYPSY, directed by Dinah Christie; and THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD,

of Music (Music Education, Piano/Vocal Performance) from Queen's
University. Greg has worked with numerous theatre companies, including
Queen's Musical Theatre, Cox-Davies Productions, Kingston Summer
Festival, Color and Light Productions, and The Weston Playhouse. He is
