The Department of Theatre and Drama at the University of Winnipeg,
invites applications for a probationary tenure track position at the
rank of Assistant Professor.  The candidate will be required to teach in
the performance area; the ability to teach in a secondary area may be an
asset. Subject to budgetary approval, this appointment is effective July
1, 2005.  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and
experience.
 
The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in theatre and/or drama
and experience teaching acting, preferably in a university setting.
Professional acting experience is required.  The position involves
teaching, continuing research or creative work, and participation in
administration.  A strong creative and/or scholarly record, with a
particular interest in actor training, would be valuable assets.
 
The University of Winnipeg has a vital Department of Theatre and Drama
consisting of eleven fulltime faculty members augmented with a number of
guest instructors from the profession.  Its commitment is to both
theoretical and practical work, and both B.A. and B.A. (Hons.) degrees
are offered, with a range of streams available to students.  We are one
of the largest undergraduate programs in the country; our graduates can
be found working in every aspect of theatre and film in Canada and
beyond.
