The Love List by Norm Foster
Director: Jordan Merkur Set Designer: Mary Spyrakis

Two middle aged men come up with a list of their top ten attributes for
the ideal female. Soon after a mysterious woman arrives and both men
eventually learn to be careful what they wish for!

Rehearsals: begin May 30 - rehearsing for 2 weeks in Toronto
Performances: June 15 to July 2 - Tuesday through Saturday - opening
night June 17

Casting Requirements:

Bill: (50) A statistician. His apartment is a mess but he knows where
everything is. Feels that he is dull and unattractive and that his wife
divorced him seven years earlier out of sheer boredom. Conservative,
unadventurous, and inept in the romance department, he falls madly in
love with Justine.

Leon (50-55) A handsome, confident and successful commercial novelist,
who enjoys wallowing in his shallowness. He is married with children
but is a player, enjoying offers of "cake and coffee" with many of his
female readers over the years. Justine's arrival helps trigger Leon's
mid life crisis as his marriage ends, his publisher breaks his contract,
Bill deserts him and the offers of "cake" dwindle.

Justine (30's) A mysterious woman. She works in an advertising agency.
She's beautiful, sexy, ambitious, smart, unpredictable, funny - and
every other characteristic Bill and Leon put on their list.

Audition Requirements:

1. Sides will be provided from the script in advance.

Having Hope at Home by David S. Craig
Director: Jordan Merkur

Now living with her grandfather in his farmhouse, nine months pregnant,
Carolyn invites her very urban parents over for dinner for the first
time in three years. The imminent arrival of the fourth generation and
Carolyn's insistence on a home birth sends the family into a tailspin
that ultimately brings new understanding and hope.

Rehearsals: begin June 20 - rehearsing for 2 weeks in Toronto
Performances: July 7 to July 23 - Tuesday to Saturday - opening night
July 8

Casting Requirements:

Carolyn Bingham - (20's) Quick tempered, feisty and defiant, she can
also emotionally crumble in a moment and become very vulnerable. She is
desperate to please her parents but is determined to follow her own
values, getting back to a more natural, simpler life. Mood swings are
very prevalent for her at this critical time.

Michel Charbonneau- (late 20's) Carolyn's doting and emotional French
Canadian boyfriend often quarrels with Carolyn's grandfather about
running the farm, but he rarely confronts Carolyn. The actor
auditioning for this role must use a French Canadian accent when
speaking English from the sides and be able to speak convincingly in
French for the short sides in French. Michel only speaks in French
briefly to his mother on the phone.

Bill Bingham - (55-60) Head of the Gynaecological ward at his hospital.
He is a very successful Doctor who is used to getting his way. He is
totally against home births. He can be demanding and controlling. He
is also very cultured and sophisticated.

Jane Bingham - (55- 60) - She recently raised two and half million
dollars for a new birthing ward at the hospital where her husband Bill
works. She doesn't like to argue and wants Carolyn to make life choices
like her own. Carolyn describes her mother as not going to the grocery
store without her lipstick on and expects her to arrive for dinner with
something expensive in a Birks box.

Russell Bingham - (75-80) Carolyn's Grandfather. He owns the farm
Carolyn and Michel now run. He suffers from rheumatism and a heart
condition that makes him feel useless on the farm. He can be ornery and
grumpy and has never got along with his son Bill. He loves and admires
Carolyn.

Dawn Shaw - (40's) Carolyn's midwife. She's very professional, calm and
experienced and is not easily threatened by Carolyn's parents. She can
be very strong when required. She is also a bit of a hippie, granola
woman.
