Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre Job Posting

Assistant Technical Director

The Roundhouse Assistant Technical Director (ATD) will play a key role
in the operation of the Roundhouse programs, partnerships, and rentals.
As part of the Production Team and reporting to the Supervisor of
Recreation Services, the ATD will assist with logistics associated with
Roundhouse productions including hiring, training, and scheduling of
Front of House staff and event technicians, overseeing regular
maintenance and repairs, entering event information into computer
spreadsheet programs, and assisting the Technical Director on events as
required.  Other related duties as outlined below may be assigned.
Note: This person will be expected to act as the Technical Director
during vacations and breaks.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Staffing
*	Under the direction of the Technical Director, schedule staff
for all events, both in-house programs and rentals
*	Under the direction of the Recreation Programmer, schedule Front
of House and other event staff for all events, both in-house programs
and rentals
*	Assist with hiring, orienting, and training event support staff
including Front of House staff and Program Assistants re: policies,
procedures and practices as they pertain to the operation of the
Roundhouse performance spaces

Events Support
*	Input all room and equipment bookings into the appropriate
spreadsheet computer program
*	Provide technical support and consultation for
theatre/performance/exhibition productions occurring at the Roundhouse
Community Centre to clients and other staff as requested

Equipment
*	Assist with carrying out the equipment maintenance program.
*	Report equipment deficiencies to the Technical Director and
order repairs/ replacements as needed
*	Assist with the creation and updating of inventories and
equipment lists 

Other
*	Assist Technical Director with general venue and procedural
management and communications for technical team, working to improve the
procedures in place
*	Assist other members of the Production Team with a variety of
tasks as needed including assisting with rental inquiries
 
Required Experience and Qualifications:
*	Excellent computer skills using Quattro Pro, MS Word, MS Excel,
Word Perfect and electronic mail systems
*	Three to four year's technical experience working in a
production venue
*	Explicit technical knowledge of lighting and sound systems and
other facility equipment as used in theatre spaces
*	Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving
skills 
*	Proven ability to work with a diverse client group
*	A solid understanding of the business and customer environment
*	Ability to work in a flexible and adaptable environment
*	Ability to work both in team and independent work environments
*	Familiarity with Employment Standards Act as it pertains to the
scheduling and management of support staff
*	Supervisory experience in managing part-time staff
*	High attention to detail required
*	Able to take initiative and provide leadership

Hours of Work: not to exceed 25 in a week. 
Work Schedule: Flexible work schedule T.B.A. - 5 hrs/day. Evenings and
weekend work may be required.
Remuneration: $18.34/hr - $21.56/hour + 8% in lieu of benefits. After
six months includes benefit package.
