Cahoots Theatre Projects, a theatre company dedicated to the creation, development, and production of new Canadian plays that reflect our national cultural diversity, is seeking a General Manager.

We are looking for an administrator with a passionate interest in theatre generally and in Cahoots' mission specifically.  An organized strategic thinker, he/she must be able to work effectively with the Artistic Director, staff and board in a collaborative manner. 

We seek an energetic self-starter, who can be an effective partner to the Artistic Director, and can effectively execute his artistic vision.  Candidates must have demonstrated budgetary and financial management and have working knowledge of computer software for office, and accounting systems.  Candidates should also be well-versed in preparing grant applications and in managing fundraising campaigns for foundations and individuals.  Any experience in marketing, communications, and audience development would be an added asset.

Our new General Manager must have excellent written and oral communication skills.  She/he must be at ease and be able to work collaboratively with board, staff, volunteers, audiences, funders, sponsors and other key stakeholders. Our new GM must be an advocate working for Cahoots and the community in general to promote a healthy, creative, and appreciated cultural environment in Ontario and Canada .

 Job Description - General Manager
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the General Manager is responsible for the direction of the financial, administrative, promotional and audience development of the theatre.  The General Manager ensures smooth and efficient operation of the theatre and provides professional support to the Board of Directors. Duties and Responsibilities:
*	Prepares, in conjunction with the Artistic Director (AD), the annual operating budget for the theatre for approval by the Board and monthly cash flow projections 
*	Reports regularly to the board on budget and administrative and attends board meetings as an ex-officio member 
*	Monitors and controls revenues and expenditures to ensure that the budgetary guidelines are maintained 
*	Identifies potential problems, concerns, shortfalls and recommends, in a timely manner, solutions to the Treasurer and Board. 
*	Oversees all accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, issuance of tax receipts and other administrative duties undertaken by the Business Manager 
*	With the AD, prepares all grant applications 
*	Communicates with granting agencies and is jointly responsible for all grant applications with the AD, after consultation with the Board 
*	Is responsible for fundraising and sponsorship initiatives 
*	Oversees audience development, marketing, and public relations
*	Plans and executes communications strategies including web-based dissemination
*	Acts as office manager; reviews and authorizes purchases of equipment; is responsible for equipment maintenance
*	In collaboration with the AD, plan's the year's engagements, with final approval by the Board 
*	Consults with the AD on all artistic staff changes, advising on the legal and financial ramifications of such changes 
*	Negotiates all rental agreements for theatre facilities and equipment 
*	Signs all contracts except the AD's and has cheque signing authority as determined by the Board 
*	Obtains all necessary copyrights
