Position:		Head of Properties

Company:		The Grand Theatre

The Grand Theatre is a regional A-house theatre, which produces a range
of plays including Canadian work, relevant classics, contemporary
scripts and other plays from an international repertoire.  The theatre
operates two stages:  an 839-seat Main Stage, and a 150-seat studio
space in its McManus Theatre.

The Grand Theatre is seeking applications from a self-motivated
individual capable of managing the Properties Department for the
organization.  The successful candidate must have a thorough knowledge
of theatrical properties construction and techniques.  The Head of
Properties is responsible for the building, borrowing, purchasing or
renting of props and set dressing for productions in addition to the
maintenance of the Theatre prop shop equipment and inventory.  The
successful candidate must be competent in the costing of props,
furniture and set dressing for all shows. 

In addition, the Head of Props is responsible for meeting the Props
Department budgets as well as meeting the deadlines as per detailed
production schedules. The Head of Props must assist in developing work
schedules and be responsible for completing the work as per schedule,
including performing minor repairs of props during the run of the shows,
while maintaining a clean, safe and secure working environment.

The Head of Props is responsible for organizing and maintaining Property
and Furniture Storage along with keeping an up to date inventory
including donations and acquisitions.

Extensive previous experience in Properties is required. The Grand
Theatre Properties Department is a member of IATSE Local 828.  The Head
of Properties would be required to become a union member, if not
already.
