E-DRIVE [ JOB - ARTISTIC DIRECTOR - VANCOUVER ]
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Theatre Terrific Society, a pioneer in enabling people with disabilities
to participate in Vancouver's theatrical community, is seeking a new
Artistic Director.

Theatre Terrific's mission is: To be a catalyst for growth and change by
providing people with disabilities access to opportunities to
participate in performing arts, thereby celebrating their gifts and
enhancing their lives. Through its activities, Theatre Terrific
encourages the broader community to become more inclusive, aware, and
educated.

To this end, Theatre Terrific provides a program of classes, workshops,
and performances, with participants coming primarily from the disability
community. A principal responsibility of the AD will be coordination of
this program, including hiring and training teachers, supervising and/or
teaching classes, directing student shows, overseeing registrations and
maintaining contact with students. The AD will seek ways to attract
students with a wide diversity of abilities, maintaining a core value of
inclusiveness.

Theatre Terrific's mandate also includes production of professional
shows, in collaboration with professional artists with and without
disabilities from the wider theatre community. The AD's role is to
recommend suitable projects and oversee the creative success of a chosen
production.

The AD will report to the Board on artistic and program matters and work
collaboratively with the General Manager, who has primary authority for
budgeting. He/she will provide input to grant writing and budgets and,
with the General Manager, liaise with public and private funders.

The successful candidate for this position will be dedicated and
committed to Theatre Terrific's mission. He or she will be creative,
innovative, and visionary. He or she will have strengths in both
theatre and in working with people with disabilities and will have
connections in the theatre and disability communities. Previous
experience as an artistic director and in grant-writing and budgeting
will be an asset. Public speaking and communications skills are
essential.

This will be a part-time, contract position, ideally to begin in January
2005. Terms of the contract are to be negotiated at rates that are
competitive. Deadline for receipt of applications is December 1, 2004.
We value all applications, however only short-listed candidates will be
contacted for an interview.
