AUDITION - VANCOUVER
--------------------------------

Western Canada Theatre is currently accepting resumes for its upcoming
production of The Attic, The Pearls & Three Fine Girls by Jennifer
Brewin, Leah Cherniak, Ann-Marie MacDonald, Alisa Palmer & Martha Ross
to be directed by Mary Ellen McLean. Rehearsal and production dates
will be March 7 to April 2,2005.

We are looking for actresses with a sense of physical comedy as well as
the dramatic. The Attic.. is as physical as it is verbal but always
staying with the emotional truth of the story.
Throughout the play, time goes from present back to the sisters
childhood years, which requires the actors to be more physical in their
approach.

JOJO is the eldest of the three sisters. (45 ish) She is an untenured
English professor who is somewhat dowdy with suppressed emotions. She
believes she is the wisest and the most benevolent sister but she is
hyper-sensitive and given to sudden displays of histrionics.

JAYNE is the middle child. She is a Bay Street Shark, and a severely
closeted lesbian. She thinks she has her emotions under control but is
actually a ferocious marshmallow.

JELLY is the youngest. (30 ish)She is a self-employed artist who
despite her sisters' beliefs, is not only a serious artist but is
revealed as the most responsible and pragmatic of the three. She loves
her sisters, and is tortured by the battle that rages between them.

The play is fast paced and emotions switch on a dime but it all comes
from a "real" place of love between the sisters, despite the ability to
show that to one another.
