Modern Times Stage Company 

Marketing and Development Coordinator 

Modern Times Stage Company is seeking a Marketing and Development
Coordinator to work with a three-member leadership team to enhance the
company's profile and resources in the aim of bringing the company to a
new level of community support and recognition. 

Position: Part-Time Contract from November 1, 2004 to May 31, 2005 with
possibility for renewal 
Job Region: Toronto, Ontario

Modern Times Stage Company is an internationally renowned theatre
company that has been in operation in Toronto since 1989. This not-for
profit artistic collaborative is devoted to offering culturally
inclusive, alternative theatre experiences. Modern Times reaches out to
audiences through works that are beautiful in their simplicity and
truthful in their exploration of the human spirit. The company's
award-winning productions of adapted, translated and original works have
stimulated, surprised and engaged audiences throughout Canada and the
world. 

General Responsibilities 

In conjunction with the staff, the marketing component of this position
includes: 

... coordinating design, printing and distribution (including mailing)
of flyer, poster, program and e-promo pieces 
... coordinating ad bookings, graphic design and clippings 
... liaising with publicist on publicity and promotional materials 
... developing and maintaining school database and coordinating school
materials and school matinee sales 
... developing and maintaining groups database and e-list 
... coordinating group sales 
... supporting all marketing needs for touring productions 
... supporting all general marketing needs for Modern Times season
(print materials and profile pieces) 
... and any other marketing duties as they arise. 

In conjunction with staff and board, the development component of this
position includes: 

... developing and implementing individual giving campaign 
... developing and implementing corporate giving campaign 
... developing and implementing acknowledgment and stewardship for
donors 
... supporting special event initiatives 
... and any other development duties as required. 

Essential Criteria 

... A degree or diploma in Arts Administration or Marketing and
Communications 
... Minimum of three years of relevant work experience in a performing
arts environment 
... Proven experience in fund-raising or development in the
not-for-profit/ innovative art scene with ideas for individual;
corporate and foundation campaigns 
... Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, dBase programs 
... Excellent interpersonal communication skills and problem solving
strategies 
... Excellent organizational and administrative skills 
... Superior written communication skills and demonstrated ability to
oversee and revise written work 
... Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a constantly
evolving environment 

Working Hours and Salary: 20 hours a week @ $20 per hour. An ongoing
office presence is required but some flexibility will be provided.
