3. THE BOUFFON - TORONTO
-------------------------------------
This November Adam Lazarus will be offering an intensive exploration
into the world of Bouffon.

This 14-day workshop is designed for students to discover their own
pleasure to play and to mock common social hypocrisies through "Jeu" - a
French performance style encouraging performers to use their sense of
play while onstage when approaching dramatic or commonplace situations.
By building your skills in improvisation, instinct, song, dance, and
most of all, audience awareness, your own method of satire will
emerge...for the world to see.

ABOUT THE CLASS:
Working in the tradition of French Bouffon/Clown Master Philippe
Gaulier, the workshop first begins with the study of Jeu and then
progresses into building Bouffon characters and turns, culminating in a
final public showing. In addition, actors will have daily work on
building spatial and body awareness.

Week 1:
Sunday November 7th, 2004 - 12pm-5pm
Monday November 8th to Friday November 12th, 2004 - 6pm-10pm

Week 2:
Monday November 15th to Friday November 19th, 2004 - 6pm-10pm Saturday
November 20th & Sunday November 21st, 2004 - Open public showing, PWYC
with money going to the artists.

Fee:
Price: $520 regular, or $415 for CAEA, for 45 hours instruction over 14
days

4. EXPERIMENTARIUM - TORONTO
--------------------------------------------
the physics of energy and time,
mind and body in the moment of confrontation.
"My prime focus is to investigate the basic exsistence of body and mind
in the theatrical space. To support the skeleton, the flesh, the skin in
the service of metamorphosis. To expose the body so naked, so empty and
with no relief that the "other" can appear." Kitt Johnson

Through tasks based on image work, the awareness of presence and energy
will be strengthened, partner work will increase physical body awareness
and improvisational/compositional work will sharpen the personal ability
of expression.

Technically the workshop is based on post butoh, expressionistic
theatre, martial arts, and new dance. Recommended for students and fully
professional dancers, actors and visual artists.
