Modern Times Stage Company
Director of Administration and Development
Position: Part-Time Contract from July 1, 2005 to May 31, 2006 with
possibility for renewal
Job Region: Toronto, Ontario

The company aims to produce one mainstage production in Toronto, one
work-in-development and one touring production per season.

Modern Times Stage Company is seeking an Administrative and Development
Director to enhance the company's profile and resources while
maintaining
and augmenting operational coordination and controls.
Reporting to the Artistic Director, the Director of Administration and
Development would be responsible for the following:

Administrative Management and Control
*assist with the strategic planning of the company including
fundraising,
marketing, programming
*coordination of all operational activities including reporting, staff
meetings, workplans, etc.
*financial management of the company, including bookkeeping, budgeting
and cash flow
*marketing of the company and specific productions to tour presenters
*project management of mainstage Toronto productions, workshops and
other
new work development activities
*assist with board management and development in conjunction with the
Artistic Director
*any other such duties that arise as appropriate.

Development
*implementation of fundraising programs, including government grant,
foundation and corporate grant applications, and individual giving
campaign
*implementation of seasonal marketing plan, including coordinating of
all
marketing materials, ad bookings
*liaising with publicist on publicity campaign
*database management
*coordinating group sales
*supporting special event initiatives
*and any other development duties as required.

Essential Criteria
*A degree or diploma in Arts Administration or Marketing and
Communications
*Minimum of three years of relevant work experience in a performing arts
environment
.Proven experience in financial management
*Proven experience in fund-raising or development in the not-for-profit/
innovative art scene with ideas for individual, corporate and foundation
campaigns
*Strong computer skills:  Word, Excel, dBase programs
*Excellent interpersonal communication skills and problem solving
strategies
*Excellent organizational and administrative skills
*Superior written communication skills and demonstrated ability to
oversee and revise written work
*Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a constantly
evolving environment

A paid 8-hour training period is required during the month of June 2005,
schedule to be negotiated. An ongoing office presence is required but
some
flexibility will be provided.
