CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - TORONTO
----------------------------------------------
Hair

Rehearsals begin February 20, 2006; Opens - March 20, 2006 at the Bluma
Appel Theatre; closes - April 22, 2006 with possible extensions.
Auditions - May 16-20, 2005, callbacks in May and June.

IMPORTANT: On stage nudity will be required of all characters.

The "tribe" members are in their late teens, all of whom exude youth,
are extremely charismatic, energetic and sexy, incorporating a wide
range of body types. We are searching for male and female singer/actors
of all ethnicities who move well and have an excellent musical range
that mixes Rock, 60s psychedelic protest and Broadway boldness.

The seven principle characters are:

Claude - a charismatic leader that women adore, boys emulate and men
will follow into the breach. A man of conscience who struggles with the
conflict of what his heart tells him is right and what the authorities
around him lead him to believe.
Berger - more of an unrestrained animal. He knows what is right and
sticks to it no matter the consequence.
Sheila - the most intelligent of the tribe. Wants to change society
through peaceful protest.
Jeanie - A follower, not a leader. Incredibly sweet, understands Claude
better than anyone. Pregnant - and taking drugs.
Woof - May not want to admit it but he is gay.
Hud - Speaks his mind and hopes you can keep up with him. Black and
proud of it.
Dionne - Black and sassy and lots of fun.

Plus 12 actors who play a multitude of characters.

Send submissions ASAP and no later than April 22, 2005 to Chris Scholey,
CanStage, 26 Berkeley Street, Toronto, Ontario, M5A 2W3. Submit a hard
copy resume/photo only - no phone calls or emails - thanks. We invite
resumes from artists of diverse cultures and ethnicities. Please
indicate submission is for Hair. Those selected for an audition will be
asked to prepare 1 two-minute monologue and 1 high energy pop/rock song
evocative of the 60s (can be from musical theatre).

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
