JOB - GENERAL MANAGER - TORONTO

BirdLand Theatre, non-profit theatre company in Toronto, in its third
year of operation and a $500,000 budget for 2005, seeks an experienced,
ambitious General Manager to lead this unique theatre to its next level.
The most recent company project was Frankie and Johnny in the Clair the
Lune by Terrence McNally at Jane Mallet Theatre. BirdLand Theatre
produces three Equity productions annually and conducts extensive
year-round new play development programming, including a  reading
series, workshops, classes, residencies, panels, etc. As the chief
operations and financial officer, the General Manger shares chief
executive authority with founding Artistic Producer. In addition to
experience in theatre management (including accounting) and the ability
to work positively with a great variety of corporate donors and artists,
the successful candidate will possess enthusiasm for the BirdLand
mission, creativity, and attention to detail. 

Requirement BA/BS degree required (MA/MS) preferred with 4 year relevant
experience working in Toronto non-profit sector. Demonstrated experience
in obtaining grants, proposal writing, fundraising and tour management.
Excellent communication and organizational skills required. General
Manager will be working at our new office at 401 Richmond Street West.
