The Artists' Health Centre Foundation in collaboration with Dance
Umbrella Ontario is pleased to present a one-day workshop with:

DARRYL TRACY, dance artist, physiotherapist
PAT MINER, dance artist, teacher
DAVID EVANS, physiotherapist 

Sunday, May 1, 2005, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
at Toronto Dance Theatre, 80 Winchester Street (near Parliament and
Carlton Streets)

This workshop is designed for the dancer/dance teacher who is eager to
explore aspects of training and supplemental training that will promote
athleticism as well as a healthy balance of strength, flexibility and
power.

This practical, day-long workshop includes:

an interactive session focusing on potential muscle imbalances and
common  pain syndromes found in dancers targeting, in particular, the
shoulder/scapula  area and the foot   
practical applications as well as ideas for self-treatment   
the difference between aerobic and anaerobic activities and the
potential  benefits of both for the dance artist   
how to find target heart rates and discussion on appropriate aerobic
practices   
instruction in part of a conditioning phrase inspired by the work of
Irene  Dowd which is designed to provide a balance of strength, power
and active  flexibility for the contemporary dancer 

David Evans (physiotherapist and clinic director of the East Toronto
Orthopaedic & Sports Injury Clinic) is experienced in the treatment of
dance injuries, and is affiliated with the School of Toronto Dance
Theatre.

Pat Miner and Darryl Tracy are both faculty members of the School of
Toronto Dance Theatre. As colleagues, Miner (highly acclaimed dance
teacher & 2004 DanceOntario award recipient) and Tracy (dance artist and
physiotherapist) have been collaborating for several years in their
approach to dance training. Sharing their combined expertise, they have
developed innovative ideas about class work and supplemental training.

Sessions involve practical components, so participants are asked to
bring comfortable clothing/dancewear. Part of the conditioning phrase
may require a small towel or sweater.

A light lunch will be provided.

Registration: 9:30 a.m. Workshop: 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

2. IMPROV - TORONTO

May/Jun Improv Classes Begin at the Bad Dog Theatre

Toronto's Bad Dog Theatre is pleased to announce its new round of 
improvisation classes starting in May/Jun 2005. Offered through the Bad
Dog Training Centre, these classes are taught by Canada's top improv
teachers and performers including several Canadian Comedy 
Award Winners and Nominees.

Formerly known as Theatresports Toronto, the Bad Dog Theatre has been 
teaching and performing improv in Toronto for over 20 years. We are a
proud member of the Toronto Association of Acting Studios (TAAS).

Classes begin the week of May 1st 2005. To register, email

All classes are $170 unless indicated otherwise.
