AUDITIONS - WINNIPEG

Manitoba Theatre for Young People will be holding Equity auditions for
its upcoming season on May 16th and 31st.  Feel free to indicate
interest in an available role without a general audition if your work is
known to Leslee Silverman, Artistic Director or if you have auditioned
at MTYP in the last two years. You will be notified for callbacks if
applicable. 

Roles available in our 2005-2006 Season:

Fall Mainstage and Tour:

Invisible Girl:  October, 2005 - January, 2006

-	Female: credibly represents grade 5 to 6 girl
-	One-woman show
-	Girl who is emotionally bullied
-	Full of life, sparkle
-	Stands up for the underdog

Smokescreen:	  Spring Tour, January to May, 2006.   

Roles: 3

1.	Father: 
-	Middle aged
-	Contractor
-	Distressed about alienation with son

2.	Son: 
-	Grade 12 student
-	Caught selling marijuana 
-	Funny, chatty
-	Typical

3.	Counsellor
-	Female, 21-ish
-	Was a street kid
-	Nervous, compassionate, frustrated, energetic


Silverwing November 14th to December 24th, Mainstage only.
Directed by Kim Selody

Female roles:
1&2.  Bathsheba & Frieda:  
-	Elder "bats"
-	Physical roles
-	Qualities of anger, fear, maternal, protectors of colony

3.    Ariel: 
-	Mom "bat"
-	Smallish, mother of the runt
-	Physical role
-	Tries to guide and protect her son, frustrated with his
behaviour

4.   Marina:
-	Youngish, 15 years old
-	Outcast female, but very adventurous
-	Very physical role

Male Roles: 
5.     Shade:
-	"Runt bat"
-	Youngish bat, 12 to 15
-	Very physical, energetic, rebellious
-	Coming up against mores of society 
-	Unwillingly on an adventure

6.    Goth:
-	Vampire bat, 30 to 40
-	Physical role
-	Nasty, brutish
-	Evangelical

7.   Throbb:
-	18 to 30
-	Physical role
-	Cannibal bat, comic side-kick of Goth

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
