EQUIFLASH - CBC LOCKOUT - MEMBER ADVISORY

On August 15 the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) locked out 4,500 Canadian Media Guild (CMG) members from across Canada. This lockout, representing the largest-ever work stoppage at the CBC, shows no sign of a quick resolution. 

Canadian Actors' Equity Association supports the CMG in its contract dispute with the CBC. Equity members are requested not to perform any struck work at the CBC. Members are also requested to respect CMG's picket lines and follow the instructions of CMG picket captains with respect to picket protocol. Those Equity members who have existing contracts with the CBC are under a legal obligation to fulfill those contracts, except where an individual has a bona fide concern for his/her safety in which case the member may refuse to cross the picket line.
