Topological Theatre is accepting headshots and resumes for their
upcoming presentation of Edward Roy's THE GOLDEN THUG, which is part of
Buddies in Bad Times Theatre's 2005-2006 mainstage subscription season.
Three roles are yet to be cast.

THE GOLDEN THUG
Written and directed by Edward Roy

Synopsis:
In the spring of 1986 an old man checks into a one star hotel in Paris.
Unbeknownst to the proprietor and other guests at the hotel he is none
other than the world famous literary genius, political activist,
convicted criminal, and notorious homosexual Jean Genet. Struggling to
complete his final novel, the master criminal becomes the victim of a
grand theft. Award-winning playwright Edward Roy's riveting journey
through the art and mind of the man Sartre regarded as the
quintessential existentialist.

ROLES TO BE CAST:
Marianne Dargenet
(Multiple-character role)
Age: Late forties
Marianne is the concierge of a small run down hotel in Paris where Jean
Genet spends his last days. Her rough exterior belies the warmth and
caring she feels for her son Pierre. The part is both comic and
dramatic.
Other roles played by the actor cast as MARIANNE:
a.. Simone de Beauvoir: Ageless, catty, and intellectually ferocious.
b.. Madame Petite: The "classy" Madame of a Spanish whorehouse.
c.. Eugenie: Age fifties. A farmer's wife and foster mother to Jean.
Coarse but caring. 

Pierre Dargenet
Age: Late teens - twenty-two yrs.
Pierre is the son of Marianne. He is attractive, feisty, and rough
around the edges. This actor will also play Young Genet from ages of
10-22 in flash-back scenes. Both roles are demanding and require
previous theatre experience.

Luc Roland=20
(Multiple-character role)
Age: twenty - twenty-two yrs.
Luc is the friend of Pierre. He is self assured, sexy, and has a strong
= psychical presence. A bad boy from a wealthy family.
Other roles played by the actor cast as LUC:
a.. Villeroy: A savvy street thug.
b.. Jean Cocteau: An intellectual and aesthete.
c.. Nono: A dull-headed thief.
d.. Lumia: A snarky drag queen.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
