Obsidian Theatre Company
Apprenticeship Positions Available

Obsidian Theatre is a company of seasoned theatre professionals who come
from the many diverse cultures which make up the African Diasporic
experience in Canada. We are passionately dedicated to the exploration,
development and production of the Black voice on the world stage.

Funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage, Obsidian Theatre Company
is offering 5 paid apprenticeship positions as part of our upcoming
main-stage season: a co-production with Theatre Passe Muraille of Joseph
Pierre's double bill Pusha Man/Born Ready directed by Philip Akin; and
Colleen Wagner's The Monument directed by Nigel Shawn Williams at
CanStage Berkeley St Theatre (Downstairs). 

Apprenticeships will range from 6-8 weeks in the fall of 2005 and 6-8
weeks in the winter of 2006, the precise dates depending on the
position. 

Positions Available:
- Apprentice Director
- Apprentice Production Manager
- Apprentice Stage Manager (will include an Equity credit)
- 2 Apprentice Designers
- in the fall the mentors are set/lighting designers
- in the winter mentors are a lighting designer and
a set/costume designer

Requirements:
- You are a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
- You are a committed individual who is actively pursuing a professional
career in the theatre 
- You have some degree of experience at the community level, in an
educational institution or in a professional organization

Applicants must submit a bio/resume and letter of intent indicating
career goals and how an apprentice position would help in achieving
those goals.  Interviews will be conducted during the third week of
July.
