Birdland Theatre presents this time-bending serio-comic drama in an
imagined world between Heaven and Hell that re-examines the plight and
fate of The New Testament's most infamous and unexplained ultimate
sinner. Throughout the play, figures ranging from "Pontius Pilate" to
"Sigmund Freud" are called to testify in a trial of "God and the Kingdom
of Heaven and Earth versus Judas Iscariot." Characters modeled from the
most contemporary of human clay draw on sound theological doctrine with
the searing dialogue and argument that has brought Guirgis acclaim as
one of the most ground-breaking and raw voices of our times.

Birdland Theatre Inc. is a non-profit Toronto-based performing arts
company committed to ensemble collaboration through its work with guest
artists, sponsors and the community. BirdLand Theatre promotes the art
of live theatre through dynamic productions, intensive actor training
and outreach programs and hopes to push forward the vitality of Canadian
theatre by collaborating with artists from diverse cultural and ethnic
backgrounds.
