Job Posting for the Position of Head Electrician

Applications are now being accepted for the seasonal position of Head
Electrician for Theatre New Brunswick's 2005-2006 Season.

Theatre New Brunswick (TNB) is the only regional theatre company in
Canada to tour all main stage productions. TNB has three divisions, Main
Stage productions, the Young Company and the Theatre School. The
Mainstage touring schedule for TNB is up to nine locations over a
nine-day period 4 times per season.  The tour regimen is challenging and
requires teamwork, a positive attitude and hard work. The Head
Electrician reports directly to the Production Manager and will interact
directly with the various Production Departments.

Responsibilities include:
Be responsible for the operation and maintenance of all lighting and
effects equipment owned or leased by the theatre
Supervise all activities directly related to stage lighting, electrical
distribution, projections and special effects
Work with Lighting Designers to produce and execute his/her designs.
While on tour, reproduce and maintain the artistic and technical
intentions of the Lighting Designer.
In consultation with the Production Manager, be responsible for the
formulation of electric crew estimates and crew calls for the Theatre
To be a multi-tasking member of the touring company
To maintain and strictly adhere to the production budget, administrative
or accounting policies, and schedules for all events
To advise the production manager on all lighting matters
To maintain and coordinate rentals of lighting equipment
Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment for staff,
colleagues and stage employees

Requirements include:
A positive attitude, good sense of humour and great energy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with a commitment
to working in a team environment
Several years of relevant theatre experience
Solid understanding of console programming (ETC)
Good understanding of ETC lighting, dimming and control systems, as well
as all forms of conventional lighting instruments
Working knowledge of safe rigging practices
A valid driver's license (a Class 4 chauffeur's license would be a plus)
