ACTORS' FUND - MORE THAN APPLAUSE CAMPAIGN - OCTOBER 17 - 24
-----------------------------------------------------------------

The Actors' Fund of Canada is a registered charity that provides
short-term financial aid to entertainment industry professionals working
in film & TV, music, theatre or dance. Performers, creators, technical
staff and other production team members can apply for help from the
Fund, which gave out $450,000 in rent payments, grocery money, utility
payments and other assistance in 2004 and $2.8 million over the last 10
years.

Demand for the Fund's emergency financial aid program has doubled in the
last three years.

Says Actors' Fund President Bruce Clayton: "We're getting everyone in
the industry to focus on "supporting our own." Not many people outside
our business understand the reality of trying to survive and be creative
in this industry and the tough financial situation we can suddenly find
ourselves in if we get sick, are injured or when a job unexpectedly
falls through. We help people turn their lives around. For people in
this business, there's no other charity you could give to that's so
clearly about you and your ability to continue doing great work in the
profession you love."

Highlights of the 2005 campaign will include a remount of last year's
Film &TV fundraising challenge with courtroom drama series "This is
Wonderland" competing with other series and feature films to raise the
most money for the Fund through on-set fundraising. As well, the "More
Than Applause" Toronto Gala takes place on October 24, 2005 at 8 pm at
the Jane Mallett Theatre. Hosted by Louise Pitre, the event promises an
eclectic mix of some of the most remarkable talent Canada has to offer
in theatre, music and dance. Tickets are available now at (416) 366-7723
or online at www.stlc.com.
