# 1750 Intensive Directing Workshop with Richard Rose
May 1 - 11, Mon - Thurs 7 - 10 pm
Sat May 6, 10 am - 5 pm
Fri May 12, 10 am - 5 pm
10 classes (40 hours total)
CAEA $400 Non-CAEA $500
Deadline for application: Apr 20
From conceptualization to rehearsal, this course will be an
examination/exploration of a directing process: a how-to-go from your
first reading gut impressions to moment by moment rehearsal with actors.
Students will look at the relationship between instinctual reactions,
concept, research, analysis, design, characterizations and the rehearsal
process. Central to this process is the principle of action - the tool
through which a director can tell stories, motivate actors, visualize
designs and actualize metaphors. Howard Barker's "The Possibilities"
will be the text used in the course. The workshop is open to actors and
directors alike.
