JOB - THEATRE TECHNICIAN - ORANGEVILLE

Theatre Technician (Props, Carp.)

Time Periods:
Christmas Show ("T'was")
Carp: Oct 28 - Nov 12
Props: Nov 13-Dec 1
Load in: Dec 19th and 25th

After Christmas (some TYA but predominantly "Drawer Boy")
Carp: Jan 15-28
Props: Jan 29-16
Load in: Feb 4

Final Show "The Long Weekend":
Carp: Mar 12-24
Props: Mar 26-13
Load in: April 1.

This is mostly a props and carpentry position with some other duties so
that the employment can be extended. 

Primary Duties:
Find and Build props for the Theatre Orangeville shows
Set carpentry
Clean up and general maintenance of theatre and shop
Loading sets in and out of Theatre building and setting them up 

Other duties may include but are not limited to:
Basic scenic painting (base-coating and flat colours)
Running Theatre Orangeville Shows
Running shows for user groups, and phoning said user groups for
technical information 
Opening and closing the Theatre Building when it is needed
Hanging and focusing lights and light walking
(More specific tasks will be assigned depending on the skills and
interests of the candidate)

This is an open position to all levels of experience, although
experience and training will be preferred. Please supply references.

The candidate should also work well alone and with other people and
maintain a polite attitude even in the face of adversity. He or she may
be expected to do some training and take on a leadership roll with
volunteers or less experienced staff members. 

The candidate must own steel toes boots and be prepared to wear them
daily and also to be comfortable on a ladder and able to do heavy
lifting. First Aid Certificate, Driver's License and access to personal
transportation would be an asset.
