AUDITION - EDMONTON, CALGARY, TORONTO

The Citadel Theatre is now accepting resumes for the following roles in
Equus by Peter Shaffer to be directed by James MacDonald.

The characters: 
Alan Strang: young actor, capable of playing 17 year-old.  Shy, intense.
Should be capable of displaying and exploring huge emotional range.
Smaller in stature is better, though not necessary.  Nudity required.
Frank Strang: Alan's father.  Late 40s to mid 50s, physically imposing
if possible; needs to dominate Alan and Dora physically and emotionally
Dora Strang: Alan's mother.  Mid-40s to early 50s.  A quiet English
housewife with a strong emotional core.
Hesther Salomon: A magistrate (judge).  Female, early to late 40s.
Opinionated, intelligent, strong.  Professional, but with a big heart.
Jill Mason: Stable-girl. Early 20s.  Bold, fearless. Generous and
open-minded.  A bit of a free-spirit. Nudity required.
Harry Dalton: Stable owner.  40-60. A heavy-set, working class man.  Bit
of a redneck, in an English way.  Blunt, cranky.
A Nurse: Late 20s - Early 60s.  Firm, tough English nurse.  Not a
push-over.
Horseman/Nugget: 20s-30s.  Physical - could be a dancer.  Should be
imposing - tall, well built, beautiful.  Needs to carry the actor
playing Alan on his shoulders.  Movement background necessary.

Auditions will be held in Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto Dates TBA.

Availability
Rehearsals for Equus begin in Edmonton on August 29, 2006; show runs in
Edmonton from September 23 to October 15, 2006. 

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
