THE NORMAN ROTHSTEIN THEATRE - TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
Located in the heart of Vancouver, The Norman Rothstein Theatre is a
multi-disciplinary performing arts venue providing services to a wide
array of events and festivals such as the annual Chutzpah! Festival. 
As front line worker at The Norman Rothstein Theatre you will be
required to provide excellent customer service to all clients and
ensuring the technical needs and expectations of all NRT clients and
in-house artistic programming are met. 

START DATE -SEPTEMBER 4, 2007 

TYPICAL DUTIES: 
-	Orients and assists licensees and in- house program/production
events with the use of the venue. 
-	Provide direct customer contact and response relating to
technical and set standards for and complete the restoration of
readiness of the stage and work areas following an event or maintenance
activity.
-	Hire, schedule, train and supervise on call technicians as
required.
-	Management of operating budget related to the technical
department, scheduling and management of all technical aspects 
-	Schedule maintenance and development of equipment and systems
-	Maintain inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment
-	Perform technical and stage area event related cleaning and prep

-	Provide monthly schedules to the JCCGV for scheduled cleaning
and security
-	Position includes the role of Technical Director for The
Chutzpah! Festival held annually in February/March
-	Provides A/V assistance to the Jewish Community Centre, when
requested.
-	Prepares technical chargeback's for licensee final settlements
and prepares licensee pre & post show 
-	Performs other related work as required.
-	In order to fulfill responsibilities and achieve related goals
and objectives, a close working relationship is required between the
Technical Director and a number of staff positions including the
Artistic Managing Director, Theatre Assistant, Front of House Manager,
Maintenance Supervisor, and Chutzpah! Festival Production Manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-	Related post secondary education, well rounded background as a
theatre technician with 3-5 years related work experience and experience
in theatre event support and show organization
-	Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to work with
minimal supervision.
-	Knowledge of theatre systems, operations and maintenance
(including lighting, sound, rigging, etc.) and ability to understand
drawings and schedules used in theatre productions
-	Must be detailed oriented and have excellent communication
skills
-	Must have physical ability to set up, work on ladders and
rigging and move equipment 
-	Proficiency and experience in theatrical procedures, practices
and the use of sound and light equipment.
-	Ability to exercise courtesy, tact, diplomacy and persuasion in
responding to internal and external service requests and complaints.

HOURS OF WORK:
This is a 40 hour a week full time Management Position. SALARY:
