JOB - TECHNICAL DIRECTOR - BLYTH

Technical Director 
Blyth Festival Theatre, Blyth Ontario
 
The Blyth Festival is currently searching for a candidate to fill the
seasonal position of Technical Director. The contract will start in
early
May and conclude in mid-August, subject to change.
 
In 2008, the Blyth Festival presents a repertory summer season of four
new
Canadian plays. The Blyth Festival takes place in Blyth Memorial Hall, a
municipally owned 444 seat theatre. There are two rehearsal halls, one
of
which functions as a studio theatre, and ample backstage space for
repertory
changeovers.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Liaise with designers
* Assist with costing of productions
* Assist with build, change-over and storage scheduling
* Supervision of builds
* Research, sourcing and buying of materials and equipment
* Supervise and assist with set changeovers
 
REQUIRED SKILLS: 
* Thorough background in all aspects of technical theatre
* Excellent problem solving skills and a creative spirit
* Proven management experience and good communication skills
* Strong team player
* Experience with purchase orders and financial reporting
* Working knowledge of Health & Safety policies
