JOB - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - PAL VANCOUVER

REPORTING:      To the Board of Performing Arts Lodge (PAL) Vancouver 
 
PAL Vancouver is a small not-for-profit society with a staff of four,
created to provide and sustain affordable housing, with support and
creative options, primarily for seniors and the disabled from the
professional performing arts and allied industries.  In addition to
social housing, its activities encompass the fields of social services
and the performing arts. The Executive Director is expected to provide
leadership in a fair, inclusive and non-discriminatory environment.  

SPECIFIC DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Operations
*         Oversee the management of a 111-unit residential facility that
includes a fully equipped studio theatre
*         Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of
the organization, including human resource 
planning and management
*         Liaise with PAL Canada and other potential partners and
professional affiliates

Risk Management
*         Identify and evaluate risks to the organization's clients,
staff, management, volunteers, property, finances, goodwill, and image
as well as implementing measures to control risks 

Financial Planning and Management
*    Work with staff and finance committee to prepare and manage a
comprehensive annual operating budget 
*         Work in close collaboration with fundraising staff to ensure
that goals are met 

Board Support and Governance
*         Provide leadership and support for the board of PAL Vancouver

*         With the consent and cooperation of the Board of Directors,
initiate and undertake new projects that will further the goals and
objectives of the society

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
*         At least five years in a senior management capacity 
*         Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to manage staff
*         Strong financial management skills
*         Working knowledge of non-profit fundraising and government
funding sources
*         ASSETS:    experience with managing a dedicated & active board
of directors facility management non-profit management the arts and/or
housing
