ANNOUNCING THE DEBUT OF THE 'CANADIAN DANCE POLICY'
---------------

Executive Director Arden R. Ryshpan is pleased to announce the debut of
a new engagement policy targeted to service Equity members in the
professional dance milieu. "The Canadian Dance Policy was created to
recognize the diverse working realities of the ever-evolving
professional dance field in Canada." Ryshpan noted when announcing the
Policy at the recent Toronto On the Move conference.

The Canadian Dance Policy (CDP) is designed to address the needs of
short-term independent dance productions, season length engagements with
dance companies not currently adhered to a fully professional agreement,
and dance activities using non-traditional rehearsal and performance
models.

Unique features of the Policy include dance-specific working conditions
(e.g. flooring, temperature, rehearsal/performance conditions, etc.),
minimum fees geared to dance activities, touring provisions and fee
scales geared to non-traditional engagements. As much of the work in the
dance field involves the creation of new choreography, the policy also
provides for increased access to the use of video for the creation and
promotion of new work.

Copies of CDP are available from Equity's National Office or at
EQUITYONLINE (http://www.caea.com/EquityWeb/Default.aspx). Please direct
any questions to Equity Business Representative Dennis Lepsi or
