CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - COLLINGWOOD

Theatre Collingwood announces auditions for the 2008 summer season

"HEN & CHICKENS VAUDEVILLE" (musical/ comedy/ variety) - Premiere by
Artistic Director, Steven Thomas, to celebrate Collingwood's
sesquicentennial.

Contract period:  June 16 =AD July 12, 2008
a) Role of Female:  25- 30's, mezzo range
b) Role of Male: 25- 30, tenor range

Multi-talented triple-threats who possess an excellent comic flair and
good dance skills. Unusual skills an asset (magician, juggling, musical
instruments,  etc.)

Audition Requirements:
Singers are requested to prepare 2 contrasting music theatre pieces (if
possible, one should be a musical selection of the early 20th century)
and 2
contrasting modern monologues, at least one of which should demonstrate
comic ability.

"LEND ME A TENOR " by Ken Ludwig
Contract period:  July 28 - August 23, 2008

a) Role of Max:  30-40 year old acting range. Excellent comic actor,
good
singer with an understanding of opera
b) Role of Tito:  35-40 range. Italian accent
c) Role of Bellhop:  25-30 range. Pushy, quick witted, slightly
obnoxious.
d) Role of Diana:  25-35 range. Attractive opera starlet who will do
anything to advance her career.
e) Role of Maggie:  25-35 range. Grounded, attractive, intelligent,
wants a fling before she settles down.

Audition Requirements:  Actors should prepare 2 contrasting modern
monologues, at least one of which should demonstrate comic ability.
Roles
of Max and Tito will be expected to sing one classical musical selection
(if
possible, opera) a capella.

"THE LONG WEEKEND" by Neil Simon
Contract period:  September 1 - 27, 2008

a) Role of Max =AD early 40=B9s range; successful lawyer, anal, crisp,
loves
order
b) Role of Roger =AD early 40=B9s; ex-math teacher turned film writer,
rather
slovenly, envious type

Audition Requirements: Actors should prepare 2 contrasting modern
monologues, at least one of which should demonstrate comic ability.

" GOLDILOCKS AND THE THREE BEARS" (PANTO)
Contract period:  November 10 AD December 7, 2008
Multi-talented triple-threats who possess an excellent comic flair and
good
dance skills. Previous Panto experience an asset for these roles:
Fairy
Spratt
Widow (male)
Evilus Maximus
Papa Bear
Mama Bear
Baby Bear (male)
Goldilocks

Audition Requirements:
Singers are requested to prepare 2 contrasting music theatre selections
and
2 contrasting modern monologues, at least one of which should
demonstrate
comic ability.

Submission deadline:  February 18, 2008
Audition Dates in Toronto:  CAEA Singing auditions:  February 24
CAEA Actor auditions:  February 25 (26)
Non-CAEA professional Actor auditions:  February 23
