JOB - GENERAL MANAGER - MONTREAL

Playwrights' Workshop Montreal, a National New Play Development
Organization located in Montreal dedicated to the work of Canadian
Playwrights, is seeking applications for the position of General
Manager. We are a registered not-for-profit charitable organization.

The General Manager will report to the Artistic and Executive Director
and the Board of Directors. 

Job Description
As General Manager, the successful candidate's primary responsibilities
will include but are not limited to the following:
-establishing, maintaining and monitoring the implementation of
operating procedures and systems of control for all financial
transactions.
-providing business leadership to Playwrights' Workshop Montreal.
-engaging in, and helping to further develop all matters related to
fundraising activities.
-seeking potential corporate sponsors as well as the support of
foundations and private donors.
-initiating and overseeing the planning and execution of all grant
writing activities.
-coordinating volunteer involvement.
-establishing and overseeing PWM's budget.
-budgeting all workshops, readings, residencies and special projects for
PWM.
-providing cash flow projections and budgetary forecasts.
-overseeing all banking activities, including but not limited to
salaries, deposits and bookkeeping.
-attending regularly scheduled board meetings and reporting on relevant
matters.
-maintaining records of all general operating and payroll contracts.
-maintaining day-to-day office operations.
-negotiating all contracts for PWM.
-developing PWM's professional relationships and public profile. 
-working to maintain the integrity of PWM's mandate and vision
statements.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience with
a professional arts organization. A passionate commitment to playwrights
and new play development is a considerable asset. S/he will enjoy
working in a highly collaborative atmosphere as well as on
self-initiated projects.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, in both English and
French, time management, computer skills with word processing, database
management and desktop publishing, experience with fundraising and grant
writing, as well as a knowledge of the policies and agreements of the
Canadian Actor's Equity Association, the Professional Association of
Canadian Theatres and government business regulations are all considered
assets.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
