SENIOR ARTISTS' RESEARCH PROJECT
Call for Personal Stories & Histories

For several years, a small group of dedicated volunteers who represent a
cross section of the performing and creative arts have been meeting to
address the critical issues of senior artists in Canada. This year the
group has established a more formal structure and is called the Senior
Artists' Research Project.

The project's mission is to find viable solutions to the problems of
senior artists through the findings of a three year research project,
which will document the needs and research what currently exists both
nationally and internationally. Kelly Hill of Hill Strategies Research
Inc. has been engaged for this purpose.

Equity members are asked to assist in the gathering human resource
material for this project. The stories should address five identified
areas of concern: FINANCIAL, HEALTH, HOUSING, CAREER & ISOLATION.

The next step in this project is the crafting of a Case Statement.
Francisco Alvarez, Managing Director of the Institute for Contemporary
Culture and formerly the Director of Communications of the Royal Ontario
Museum, has generously offered to volunteer his services in the
undertaking of this task. He feels that personal histories and stories
are vital to the crafting of the statement. If you have or know of any
such material, please send them to us by December 1st, 2008.

Materials may be forwarded to the Senior Artists' Research Project at
sarproject at sympatico.ca. More information and a consent form may be
downloaded from Equity's website at http://www.caea.com.
