ARTS ADVOCACY - FINAL FEDERAL ELECTION 2008 UPDATE
-----------------------------------
October 15, 2008

The 2008 federal election results have been tabulated and Canada has
elected a minority Conservative Government.

Thank you to all Equity members, arts and culture professionals in all
disciplines and patrons across Canada who made arts and culture issues a
priority in this election.

Editorial/opinion columns in the Globe & Mail, Toronto Star, National
Post and Ottawa Citizen (Canwest News Service) all cite the Conservative
Government's stance on arts and culture funding as a pivotal contributor
to the party's failure to receive a majority mandate.

Please see our EQUITYONLINE media archive linked to http://www.caea.com
for more information on the election results.

Executive Director Arden R. Ryshpan's letter to the editor entitled
"We're not going anywhere" has been printed in the Winnipeg Sun and
