KEN BURNS TO LEAVE HIS FULL-TIME POSITION WITH EQUITY
--------------------------------
On July 2nd, Senior Business Representative Ken Burns will leave his
full-time position at Equity to take his career in an entirely new
direction. After 12 years of progressively more senior roles, Ken's
expertise will be sorely missed but fortunately for the membership, he
will continue his relationship with the Association in a new position -
Senior Consultant - working with Executive Director Arden R. Ryshpan on
a variety of projects.

Ken came to work at Equity following his participation as a member on
various committees during which he quickly revealed his commitment and
dedication to the betterment of artists' working conditions. He joined
the staff in early 1998 as a Business Representative. Ken was promoted
to Business Rep Manager in 2000 and he became Equity's Senior Business
Representative in April 2004.

During his tenure with Equity, Ken has taken on a myriad of projects. He
was instrumental in four CTA negotiations and led multiple negotiations
of the Association's opera and dance agreements. In 2005 Ken was
"twinned" with Vincent Mwemba, Secretary-General of the Oruuano of
Namibian Artists' Union, a successful partnership which led to Ken's
work exchange trip to Namibia in 2006. His dedication to stage
management training has contributed greatly to the development of the
S.M.Arts conferences, and he recently spear-headed the highly successful
"Audition Project."

Ken is a passionate and tireless advocate for Equity members. During his
work with the Association he introduced numerous improvements to
members' working lives, while safeguarding their artistry and
creativity.

Ken will be sorely missed by his colleagues and friends on the staff of
Equity, as well as by elected representatives and members from
coast-to-coast. Equity's staff and Council wish him and his partner Lori
all the very best as he expands his career horizons.
