EQUITY'S 'FESTIVAL POLICY' DEBUTS
---------------------------------------------------
Created to enable members, collectives and independent producers to
participate and showcase artistic activities in a festival setting. The
"Festival Policy" replaces Equity's current Fringe Application.

Over the last number of years, new festivals have emerged in every part
of the country. These festivals all share certain similarities with the
Fringe Festival model - no presentation fees but a small honorarium or
a sharing of box office receipts, limited technical support and
performance spaces and venues that may be something other than
traditional theatres. 

The Festival Policy applies only to specific festivals. Other festivals
of a similar nature may also be considered upon request. A festival may
be curated or select participants by lottery. In all cases the artistic
activity must offer Equity members a genuine opportunity to showcase
their talents.

Only one page long and requiring payment of insurance only, the Festival
Policy will facilitate the participation of Equity members in festivals
and minimize the paperwork required.
