*The Debate is now scheduled from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Doors open 5:00 pm. 
The change in time is to accommodate another debate in the city.

The Mayoral Arts Debate is open to the public at no charge. 
John Tory to Moderate Mayoral Arts Debate

Canadian Business for the Arts in partnership with ArtsVote Toronto, the
Toronto Arts Council, the Art Gallery of Ontario and Manifesto will host
a Mayoral debate on Wednesday, September 29.

Moderated by John Tory, Chair of the Toronto City Summit Alliance,
former politician and current CFRB radio host, the Mayoral Arts Debate
will give Mayoral candidates the opportunity to debate the role of arts
and culture in Toronto, its impact on the economic health of the city
and the role that artists play in city building. 

CBC radio personality Jian Ghomeshi of CBC Radio One's flagship arts
show Q, will join the debate as the official emcee of the Culture Wheel.
The Culture Wheel will test the candidates' cultural knowledge with quiz
questions throughout the debate.

Galvanized by ArtsVote Toronto (http://artsvotetoronto.ca/) to ensure
that Toronto's next Mayor is committed to the strength and vitality of
the city's cultural sector, Canadian Business for the Arts
(http://www.businessforthearts.org/) and The Toronto Arts Council
(http://www.torontoartscouncil.org/) have worked together to raise the
profile of artist's voices during this election campaign.

Major cultural figures expected to attend the debate include Karen Kain,
Artistic Director of the National Ballet of Canada, R.H. Thomson, award
winning actor and director, Che Kothari Executive Director of Manifesto,
critically acclaimed actor and director Weyni Menghesa, and Artistic
Director of Soulpepper Theatre Company Albert Schultz.
