------------------------------------------

The 2011 Stage Managing the Arts (S.M.Arts) "ON THE ROAD" Conference will take place Thursday, May 12 to Sunday, May 15 in Montreal, QC.

Courses being offered include: UdA & Equity: Working in French, Notation/Forms, Giving Notes, Resumes & Interviewing, CTA, Apprentice Stage Managers, Training Apprentices, Safety, Scheduling & Planning, Reading Plans & Taping a floor. The Montreal course schedule is now posted online at S.M.Arts' website www.stagemanagingthearts.ca.

As in past years, S.M.Arts will be offering a conference pass which allows a participant to attend all of the courses for a substantially reduced rate.

S.M.Arts Conference Director Janelle Rainville and local SMs & theatre professionals will host a series of seminars exploring the many aspects of the craft of stage management. These sessions provide a comfortable environment for new or experienced stage managers to hone their skills. The Conference is designed for both the student stage manager who wants to know more about their career choice and the experienced stage manager who is looking for diversification within their field.

Thank you to Kathryn Cleveland & Elaine Normandeau for helping to organize the conference. Enquiries about the 2011 Conference may be directed to Janelle Rainville at smartsconference at gmail.com.

Equity is a key S.M.Arts sponsor as part of the Association's professional development mandate.
