Additional information: The Showboat Festival Theatre is accepting
submissions for its 2011 Summer Season at the Theatre-in-the-Round in
the elegant Roselawn Centre in Port Colborne, Ontario.  Auditions will
be in Toronto in late February, 2011.

A Comedy of Crosswords & Romance by Jerry Mayer
Directed By Thom Currie
Five week contract: May 31-July 2, 2011

Synopsis:  Two strangers, a man and a woman (late 40's to late 50's)
board a commuter train at 4:30 AM. They're alone in the car, each is
married, and both are doing the New York Times crossword. She's an
organized, sensible, psychologist. He's a free spirited, unemployed ad
exec. She is a crossword pro, he always quits. When he tosses his puzzle
away, she snaps, "Crosswords are a metaphor for life, those who finish,
succeed, those who don't, fail." Now he vows to finish. Why? He's a
competitor and she happens to be lovely. 

Roles To Be Cast
JANET (40s-60s) - married, efficient, always rises to the challenge of
the crossword puzzle
JOSH (40s-60s) - out of work, married ad exec, does the crossword until
he is stumped, then throws it aside

I'll Be Back Before Midnight
A Mystery Thriller By Peter Colley
Directed By Di Nyland Proctor
Five week contract: June 21-July 23, 2011

Synopsis: 
A classic, spine tingling thriller.  Jan, who's recovering from a
nervous disorder, and her husband rent a remote cabin from an odd farmer
who tells gruesome ghost tales. When the husband's lustful sister
arrives, frightening events transpire. What happens to the fragile wife
as bodies appear and disappear gives this classic thriller its
horrifying impact.

Roles To Be Cast
JAN (Late 20s) Nervous and insecure, she has come from a mental
hospital, but she is the sanest person in the play.
GREG (Early 30s) A stuffy intellectual with a certain sexual charisma.
LAURA: (Early 30s) A beautiful and brassy woman, Greg's sister
GEORGE: (50s) A craggy farmer, a bit off centre and full of a rural
energy

Back In '59
A 50s-60s Musical Revue Conceived By Thom Currie
Five week contract: July 12-August 13, 2011

Synopsis: It's the Summer of 1973.  Four old friends have snuck away
from their 10th high school reunion and broken into their old hangout.
As they contemplate their lives and the future, the four are transported
back to their high school years and remember the music of their youth.
Featuring the jukebox hits of 1959-1963.

Roles to be cast: The entire cast should be solid musical performers
with an ability to dance well and an ear for harmonies. The ability to
play one or more instruments is also a definite asset.
CHARLIE (Early 20s to 30s). A strong tenor, leading man type.
LEANNE (Early 20s to 30s). Mezzo soprano, tall.
DAVE (Early 20s to 30s). Baritenor with good comic timing.
CRYSTAL (Early 20s to 30s). Mezzo soprano/alto. 

Mending Fences
A Comedy by Norm Foster
Directed by Thom Currie
Five week contract: August 2-September 3, 2011

Synopsis: Harry Sullivan hasn't seen his son Drew in thirteen years. And
now Drew is coming to Harry's Saskatchewan ranch for a visit. This
poignant comedy tells the story of two men who are too stubborn to give
in to feelings of the heart.

Roles to be cast
HARRY (Late 50s) A crusty ex-farmer living alone in his rural home is
Saskatchewan.  The same actor also plays Harry's father.
DREW (20s/30s) Harry's son.  The actor also plays young Drew and young
Harry.
GIN (50ish).  Harry's quick witted girlfriend.  The same actor also
plays Harry's ex-wife Lori and Harry's Mom.

The Showboat Festival Theatre has been producing professional theatre in
Port Colborne, Ontario since 1987.  The company performs in the intimate
Theatre in the Round at the historic Roselawn Centre. 

Showboat Festival Theatre engages CAEA members under the ITA.
