Additional information:
The Normal Heart was written near the beginning of the HIV/AIDS crisis,
and documents the response of the Manhattan gay community to the
disease, their own fears, and the unwillingness of those in power to
recognize a health emergency and respond. It is semi-autobiographical
and centres around Ned Weeks, playwright Larry Kramer's alter ego. Like
Kramer, he is an outspoken advocate for abstinence and public action,
urging powerful gay men to out themselves and making strident demands
for public and government support.

Director: Joel Greenberg

Contract Dates: September 14 to November 6, 2011

Reading copies are available at the Metro Toronto Reference Library.

Looking for:
Felix Turner: mid-30s - mid-40s; a Fashion & Style reporter for the New
York Times.

Ben Weeks: late 40s - mid-50s; a successful, conservative lawyer with a
wife and child; loves and supports his younger brother, Ned.

Bruce Niles: late 30s, exceptionally handsome; he is a former Green
Beret, All-American kind of guy who remains in the closet.

Mickey Marcus: 30s; works in the health care profession; a man of good
intentions, but sometimes to a fault.

Tommy Boatwright: late 20s; a cute and funny Southerner; a man of
refreshing sanity.

members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
