Additional information:
Black Theatre Workshop will be holding auditions in Toronto for its
Montreal production of Harlem Duet by Djanet Sears, directed by Mike
Payette. (Montreal auditions will be held at a later date).
Harlem Duet is a prelude to Shakespeare's Othello. It is the story of
his first wife, Billie, a Black woman, as she watches the dissolution of
her relationship as Othello announces that he has fallen in love with
"Mona", a white woman. According to the playwright, Harlem Duet
"represents the best and the worst of everything about people of African
descent."
Actors will be asked to prepare a monologue from the play.
Rehearsals begin on October 1, 2012.
The show runs from October 23 to November 11, 2012 at the Segal Centre
Studio in Montreal.

Roles:

BILLIE: African-American female, mid 30s.

OTHELLO: African-American male, late 30s-early 40s.

CANADA: African-American male, 60s.  Billie's estranged father.

AMAH: African-American female, early 30s.  Billie's sister-in-law. 

MAGI: African-American female, early 40s. Billie's landlady.

In attendance will be Director Mike Payette and Artistic Director Quincy
Armorer.
