"Musical Pawns" is based on the life story of composer David Nowakowsky and the fascinating story of the survival of his music - against all odds. What was so dangerous about this beautiful Jewish music that it had to be smuggled out of Russia in 1800's and then later be buried on a farm in Nazi occupied France?  Even the composer's tombstone was destroyed and his descendants hounded to the ends of the earth. The survival of the manuscripts took on a life of their own in their journey to mysteriously emerge many years later from a devastating fire in NYC in 1979.  And the music lives on...

This production will be a blend of sung music and spoken text, and will be accompanied by 3 live musicians.

Equity members participating in this production will be signed to a Festival Policy application.
