Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement:
Stage West is currently seeking comic actor singers for our fall
production of DIVORCE PARTY? The Musical.  We are looking for 4 women ,
as well as 1 man who will play several comic roles. Character
descriptions below. All performers must have very strong voices, and
movement. Tap is an asset.

Additional information:

SEEKING:
LINDA:  36 year-old frumpy housewife.  Insecure, emotionally destroyed,
and full of self-pity because of her husband coming out of the closet
and asking for a divorce.    Belting soprano

CAROLYN:  40ish, Linda's older sister.  Well put together, vivacious,
and confident.  She's a divorced woman who remarried to a much younger
man, thrusting herself into cougar-dom. 

SHEILA:  36 year-old African American Southern in charge woman.  Linda's
college roommate, and life long friend.  She's sarcastic, boisterous,
and sassy. 

COURTNEY:  Late 40s/Early 50s, Linda & Carolyn's older cousin. She's the
eternal party girl.  She strives to look at ageless as possible,
stopping at no treatment, surgery, or painful contraption to do so. 

THE BOY TOY:  A versatile character actor that plays the seven men in
the show.  He also does a strip during the finale.  The Boy Toy needs to
be comfortable with a Spanish accent and an Italian accent. Bari-tenor. 

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
