present story-driven musicals by developing new Canadian works and by
re-imagining existing repertoire.

Additional information:
MARY Paterson
Female, late teens-early 20s, soprano
A young Edinburgh prostitute and best friend of Janet Brown. Unusually
well-spoken, she came from a relatively comfortable family life, but was
driven from her home by her parents after an indiscretion. She was
discovered by Janet and taken under her wing. Although acclimating to
life as a prostitute, she still retains a naive idealism.

MARGARET Hare
Female, late 30s-40s, mezzo-soprano
Landlady of the lodging house on Tanner's Close and wife of William
Hare. Harried, short-tempered and habitually disapproving of her
husband. Struggles to maintain at least an appearance of respectability,
but her efforts are overriden by her opportunistic and entrepreneurial
streak, which aligns her with William Burke in ways that surprise even
her.

Lord Advocate Sir William RAE
Male, 40s-60s, tenor/baritone
Main prosecutor in the Burke and Hare case, possessing the education and
dignity befitting his high office. Morally upright, shows sympathy to
people across classes, but is not above chicanery and bargaining,
especially to make the best of a bad situation.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
