Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement:
Cahoots Theatre Company is dedicated to the creation, development and production of new works that investigate the complexities of Canada's cultural diversity, and examine the intersections of these cultures. Diversity is more than race, nation of origin and ethnicity. It also encompasses gender, sexuality, ability, language and class.  We believe in artistic creation of the highest calibre, with a theatrical vision that is powerful, innovative and globally relevant.
We produce theatre that matters... and we do it in full colour.

Cahoots is currently seeking one performer for the following role:

Joseph/Aman:  Male - 40's - 50's.
Open Ethnicity

JOSEPH, whose mother is from Iran, is father to Alice, a girl of 14 with a disease that renders her incapable of feeling pain.  Born and raised in Sudbury, he is a down-to-earth man.  While both intelligent and sensitive, Joseph harbours a secret.  AMAN, a former chess champion, escapes from war-torn Afghanistan only to become a cabbie in Canada.  He is a proud man, born into wealth, and with no skill other than chess and charm.  Aman is full of regret but never relinquishes hope.

~

In Kawa Ada's powerful playwriting debut THE WANDERERS, Aman and his son, Roshan, escape the war in Afghanistan only to be followed by a mysterious force that threatens their new lives in Canada.  As Aman and Roshan grapple with each other's life choices, their love of Mariam, wife and mother to them, respectively, seems to be the only thing keeping them together.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the audition.
