Sudbury Theatre Centre is looking for an actor to play the lead in the world premier of Matt Heiti's new play Mucking in the Drift which tells the true story of Bert Archer, who in his day  (Between the wars) was the best baseball player in the Northern Baseball League. Originally from Cape Breton. He and his brother were lured to Sudbury to work in the mines with the promise of being able to play baseball on the company  team. The play is much like Billy Bishop - a one man show with one actor playing a number of characters. He is joined onstage by an actor who plays the pump organ.
The actor needs to play Bert as a young man, but also as an old man in a nursing home gradually his grip on reality.

The Cast:
Gerda - a young girl who goes on a mission to save her friend.
Kai - a young boy, Gerda's best friend. He gets a shard of a broken shattered mirror in his eye which causes him to fall under the spell of The Snow Queen
The Snow Queen - a magical powerful spirit.
2 male actor + 2 female actors who will play a variety of roles - A Crow, and Old Woman, Reindeer etc.

Looking for actors with a strong sense of physical theatre. Circus skills may be used.

This production in done under the CTA - TYA provisions.

GARY COLEMAN:  Yes, that Gary Coleman, child star of Different Strokes. Lives on the Avenue and is superintendent of the apartment buildings. Character is African American.  Female, 25-40 yrs old.  Alto, Range: D3 - Bb5
